THE LATEST: Updates and More
11/01/2008
Wow!  What a crazy couple of months!  The battered economy has wreaked havoc within the industry, so while I have good news, I also have bad news.

Good news first:  The Bristol Public School Novel Preview Committee (Bristol, CT) decided in late September to use The Torn Timeline as part of their reading curriculum with their seventh grade classes.

Bad news: Due to the volatile nature of the economy, many companies have been forced to lay people off, or worse, shut their doors.  TRIAD, the small, over-extended press responsible for publishing The Torn Timeline, has fallen victim to the economy and other unfortunate factors.  Because of this, all operations at TRIAD ceased in late September.

So where does that leave us?  While I have copies and some are still available through Amazon for the time being, it's clear another press (publisher) will be needed.  AND SOON!   Unfortunately, unlike The Forgotten Prophecy, I would rather not self-publish this one, even in desperate times like these.  It's quite unfortunate, too. If one school system picked it up, there's a chance others might do the same.  It is a fun adventure, if I don't say so myself!  Alas, this will all have to be put on the backburner for now.

Other news: The Forgotten Prophecy, self-published through Outskirts, continues to be available through the usual outlets, though I have no new news to report regarding its possible agency representation.

In an ongoing effort to market the books already written, and in the hopes of gaining the attention of agents and larger publishers, many letters and emails are sent out on a regular basis.  Most recently, both books were pitched for possible representation in getting the stories on the big screen.  While The Torn Timeline was rejected during this effort, The Forgotten Prophecy was shown to have promise and "market viability".  There are still many hoops to jump through, but the process thus far has been quite interesting... even promising.  More as it develops!

Spoke before a group of sixth grade students and their parents at a Young Author's celebration.  Students had worked for six weeks writing and illustrating their own books.  The students were a wonderful crowd and their work showed much talent.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there.

So, the latest on the changes: In attempt to better utilize my time, the website has been redesigned.  I'm sure there'll be some tweaking in the weeks and months ahead, but this format will allow for easier updating, blogging, announcing, and the like.  Several ideas were never put in place a couple of years ago due to the amount time that would be needed to implement such ideas.  It's my hope this will make things easier.  If nothing else, it'll be easier for others to stay current with what's happening.
